Therapy is an investment in the most important relationship of your life: with yourself. I work collaboratively with my patients to help them gain self-understanding and to support them as they adopt new attitudes and approaches to various life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and therapist alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.
In more practical terms, if we decide to work together, we will meet once a week (or more often, if needed) for 45 minutes.
My approach is to start where the patient is, and it is my priority to create a safe, comfortable emotional space for my patients.

DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a type of talk therapy designed to help people manage intense emotions, cope with stressful situations, and cultivate more rewarding interpersonal relationships. DBT encourages acceptance of life’s complexities, rather than attempting to control the aspects of our lives that are beyond our control. While it was initially developed for people with borderline personality disorder, elements of DBT are effective for patients with mood disorders, anxiety, and PTSD.

Trauma-Informed Therapy
I am sensitive to how trauma may affect my clients’ well-being, relationships, and worldview. I prioritize creating a safe environment based on trust and mutual respect where my clients can process their trauma and its impact on them. I emphasize empowering my clients as I help them strengthen their self-regulation skills, proceeding at the pace they are comfortable with.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a practice of being grounded in the present moment and accepting your feelings, thoughts, and experiences without judgment.

Strengths-based Therapy
My clients are the main authors of their story with immense capacity for growth. I will help you tap into your unique skills, resilience, and personal resources so that you can harness them to reach your goals.

Attachment-Focused Psychotherapy
Attachment-focused therapy is a type of talk therapy designed to help you heal from emotional wounds of early childhood trauma, such as unstable relationships with primary caregivers. This approach addresses how attachment trauma affects your adult relationships, your self-regulation, and your ability to trust.

Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy is a type of talk therapy that explores the links between past experiences, relationships, or trauma, and present patterns of relationships, worldviews, and behaviors. By becoming aware of some of the unhelpful patterns and understanding their roots, clients are able to start making meaningful changes.

Culturally-Informed Therapy
In each client’s unique story, there are many interwoven threads, including their cultural background, their beliefs, their values, and their life experiences. As a holistic practitioner, I will honor your story by staying attuned to the cultural factors that have shaped it.
